Greetings all!
First and foremost, welcome aboard new members. It’s great to have each you with us as Vanquish prepares for the coming launch of Morrowind!
The guild is truly in a good place right now as we prepare for the next Elder Scrolls Online expansion, but as always we push to make it even better! I wanted to share with you all my plans for the next 6 months as well as touch on a few different topics and introduce a small evolutionary step in our ranking system.
Morrowind:
The Halls of Fabrication – Morrowinds new raid, will be our Trials focus while we learn this new content. Some of us have already begun testing this Trial on the PTS! Expect events, both impromptu and scheduled to be popping up based around HoF! If you have questions regarding Trials or specifically HoF, please see Colby.
Battlegrounds – We will be working with Static’s community project and sister guild to Vanquish, Revenge, in regards to BG’s! Revenge is the brain child of our very own Static, and while tied to Vanquish it is his project. All Vanquish members interested in belonging in this community centered on finding BG groups will have an open invite! Vanquish will run our own BG groups as well, but as always, BGs are just one part of the whole that is ESO for us. Revenge, on the other hand, is dedicated to creating BG groups both for training and upper tier competition amongst the ESO community.
Vanquish:
Recruitment – I am building a recruitment team as we speak. See my post HERE! Our goal will be to bring the active roster to ~225 members within a month of Morrowinds launch. As always, my focus is the new player as they are the life blood of any guild wishing to stand the test of time, but veteran players of ESO are always welcome as well! I ask that you ALL keep your eyes and ears open for those that may be a fit for Vanquish and defer them to myself an Officer or the website, thank you!
Member Ebb and Flow – Folks will come and go. The reasons are many and not always pleasant. It is difficult to lose any member but especially core members. I want to stress that THIS is okay, normal and part of running a guild, part of being human and VERY, VERY rarely is it something that cannot be worked through or healed with time.
Content and Trials – We will continue to run other Trials and all content ESO throws our way, but undoubtedly Morrowind will be our focus for a couple of months. That said, we have a number of great events planned that cater to all levels and player types in Vanquish, stay tuned! If you are new(er) to Trials and hesitant to step foot into them or simply wish to hone your skills and work on mechanics, please see Duck. He has taken up much appreciated job of “Trials 101”. His events can be found on the calendar, or ping him with any questions you may have!
****If you have an idea for an event or would like to help out in anyway, please let me know as the help is APPRECIATED!
Rank Changes and Updated Definitions:
I want to preface why I have ranks in Vanquish in the first place. It’s not something that I force down people’s throats or put a huge emphasis on, as with the types of members Vanquish attracts, there is really no need.
That said, I see ranks as a way to show a nod of appreciation to our members that go above and beyond or display exceptional loyalty. It is one of the few ways I can personally thank that individual for contributing to the guild in a way that is often times unique to that person. Also, a ranking system can be seen as a type of Guild/player generated content as well, as just one more thing to work on in ESO, Vanquish, for your character and yourself as well.
Rank is NOT used to bolster egos, hold over anyone or as a means of measuring importance. (Except for Colby, he has rank because of his delicate personality and it was the only way to get him to stop fucking crying.)
That all said! Below lists out Vanquish’s ranks and some of the changes being implemented along with a more clear definition of the lead positions within Vanquish.
Guild Commanders: Committed to the members above all else, active in all content, direction and decisions regarding the overall state and health of Vanquish in ALL worlds we find ourselves in.
Colby, Oakos and Mersy are the current 3 Commanders of Vanquish. Commanders are the only rank that is not ESO specific for the sake of this post.
Guild Captains: Vanquish Captains are exemplary members that are dedicated to Vanquish in all regards, involved in the day to day of the guild including but not limited to: recruitment, planning, event hosting, forums moderation, promotions and demotions and above all else a commitment to every member of Vanquish. Captains drive the guild forward by being involved in each aspect of the community. A Captain’s priority is no longer themselves alone. It is the member standing to their left and their right. Each Captain will have their own way of achieving the above, be that leading by example on a daily basis to more concrete and specific endeavors. Above all else, Captains are approachable and savvy to the needs of each member from the new recruit to the Officer.
Guild Officers: An Officer in Vanquish generally has an area of expertise that they focus on. An Officer is expected to cultivate and maintain this area in a way they see fit and manage it for themselves. Experts in their field, an Officer’s duties can range from raiding to social events, gearing, PvP, community liaison for the guild, to running “sister” guilds such as trade guilds. Officers focus on endeavors that serve to strengthen Vanquish within the community both directly and indirectly and can fall into a wide range of roles. An Officer should be social within the guild and have a finger on the heartbeat of day to day of Vanquish.
Guild Veterans: A Veteran member of Vanquish is an individual who has shown loyalty to the guild through time or action or both. These individuals demonstrate leadership and selflessness within the ranks of the members and are often times considered the “pool” from which Officers are picked from. A Veteran member is also someone who is active amongst the members and leadership, often times being the source of content initiation for the other members of the guild.
Guild Members: The life blood of the guild. The Vanquish member is the core of the roster and has moved beyond recruit by demonstrating the core values of Vanquish on a regular basis and has made the effort to become part of their guild.
Recruits: A new applicant to the guild with much to prove!
In closing I also want to take a moment to personally thank all of the members for your contributions to the guild, each other and our community. There is also however, in particular, one individual that I could not do without. 5 years ago marks the anniversary I crossed paths with a tall, blonde, sword swinging, shield bashing, bad ass woman named Mersy!
I still remember one of the first things she said to me, “Oakos your grammar is atrocious.” It was then that I knew I had found what I was looking for… someone to edit all my posts and make me look good! (If not a little short.) It was not long after accepting this full time job she became an Officer in the Guild Wars 2 division of Vanquish and not long after, the 2nd in command of the guild as a whole at which point her vodka consumption noticeably went up. She has been an island for me through the last 5 years and without her Vanquish would not be what it is today. Thank you Mersy, you are a true leader, a warrior’s warrior and most importantly to me, a friend.
TL;DR: Morrowind is coming!
