VANQUISH 11TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION RECAP

Vanquish started on March 30, 2014. The first day of early access, making Vanquish one of the few guilds remaining that is as old as the game is. Our devoted and generous members are the reason Vanquish has been able to remain effective and stable throughout the years.

The Vanquish 11th Birthday Celebration was this past Saturday, like all good birthday celebrations there was CAKE and presents! The day consisted of 7 events in 12 hours, while some members came and went through the day, others attended every event. The day started with 23 gift packages (full list at bottom of page) to be given out, consisting of a variety of items. There were also 3 special gifts to be given during Roll Call while Lawn Darts followed the long-standing tradition of crown packs and gold as prizes.

Saturday Morning Smackdown (SmS)

The guild began to assemble just before 11AM EST as they prepared for “Saturday Morning Smackdown” in Grahtwood, Greenshade, and Malabal Tor. Infi lead the group from world boss to world boss as we drank our morning coffee (or beverage of choice) while enjoying each other’s company. What better way is there to spend a Saturday morning?

Presents for SmS went to @AstLuminos, @davedek , @Duck17, and @Infidelux

Monday Night Madness (MnM)

We then headed to Wrothgar for “Monday Night Madness”. We managed to complete all 6 world boss dailies with Cyfrinair and picked up a few museum pieces along the way. We told stories of years past and the dad jokes are always abundant when in any of Cyf’s groups. It was fitting to be in Wrothgar, since it is where the MnM event officially started back in late 2015.

Presents for MnM went to @Cyfrinair, @darkeangyle, @PerplexedPenquin and @Savina

Trial of Races

(Sorry no screenshots, no time when you are racing to win!)

Trial of Races was on the schedule for the first time, and it appeared to be a hit. We gathered in Discord, some had never been to a trial, some were pros. We split into two equally competitive groups, and each had room for any latecomers that arrived. Which was a good thing since we had a few late arrivals. Each group headed into Sanctum Ophidia and waited for the signal to go through the door.

Everyone charged through the door and on through SO as fast as possible. They finished within minutes of each other and the defining moment might have been the bridge and Troll. Group one thought the best plan was to pull all the mobs on the bridge with them to the troll and kill everything at once. While group two thought it might be best to kill each group along the bridge as they came across them so as not to waste time resurrecting each other if they became overwhelmed. Save way is not always the best way, as Group one won the first trial race.

Off to Cloudrest both groups went, each discussing among themselves what the best plan would be against the sload. Group one decided to kill one mini and then take on the sload and the other two mini’s together. Meanwhile, group two played it a bit safer yet again and killed 2 mini’s and left one for the main event. Turns out sometimes safer is better as group two got their kill and finished before time was up. And group one continued through breaktime to finish up what they had started.

Presents for Trial of Races went to @Faxxamous, @Morrigain415, @Shell275 and @Wabisan

VanquishDome

VanquishDome, always a favorite during the Birthday Celebration, was up next with fighters and spectators both gathering at Hammerdeath Arena to enjoy the company and cake. This event is so much fun to watch, as our guildies duel naked with only jewelry a level 4 helm and 1 level 4 random weapon. With no bar swapping or proc sets to worry about, they used potions, skills, pets, and ultimates to outlast their opponents as the crowd cheered them on.

We witnessed sorc pets taking down their competition, clown form necro’s demolish their foes, and we even watched 2 warden bears clawing it out and knocking each other down while their masters dueled each other. In the end, 2 hours later, none went undefeated, it was double elimination with the last 4 standing taking home the prizes.

Presents for VanquishDome went to 1st place @Jedediah_x, 2nd place @Cyfrinair, 3rd place @Emphatic_Static, and 4th place @Thimblewearer.

Roll Call

Everyone quickly made their way to the Daggerfall Bridge and Jester’s tent area for Roll Call. New format for Roll Call that seemed to take a bit longer than expected, you can read the transcript here. We had a random roll for prizes that included a embroidered “Vanquish” ballcap, 2 random prize packs and 2 ESO Gold Road game codes. Special thanks to ZoS for providing us with 4 Gold Road codes to give out throughout the day.

Presents for Roll Call included 2 Random Prize Packs to @dark.green & @whisky_jak, 2 ESO Gold Road game codes to @AstLuminos & @Jedediah, and a Vanquish embroidered hat to @Kinslayer1447.

Lawn Darts

Roll Call is always followed by Lawn Darts, another guild favorite. Everyone was off to Stonefalls fo the first of two jumps. Everyone gathered to watch Savina plunge from the highest cliff to her death. Then one by one each member was called by their group leaders to try and make the same death jump and land as close as possible to Savina’s dead corpse at the bottom of the cliff. Duck sorted out the dead limbs and made the official call of the 3 closest bodies. Then off we went to the next location.

Wrothgar was a bit tougher to find the jump spot, Savina made 3 jumps before all were satisfied with the area. It turned out to be one of the closest Lawn Darts in our history. Everyone had gotten the feel for what they needed to do and dead body after dead body landed until Savina’s corpse was not even visible with so many piled on top. Duck had his work cut out for him, but using his circle as a guide found his way through the pile to our 3 winners.

First place winners received a 4 crown crates + 500K gold. Second place winners received 4 crown crates. Third place winners received 500K gold.

Lawn Dart winners (by location) – Stonefalls – 1st place @Morrigain415. 2nd place @davedek, and 3rd place @Pale_Algae. Wrothgar – 1st place @Faxxamous, 2nd place @you_complain, and 3rd place @Dragonheart66.

Friday Night Fights (FnF)

We ended the 11th Birthday Celebration with Friday Night Fights Saturday Birthday edition. This year was different than years past, there was no Cyrodiil as we know it since the ESO Champion Test was taking place. There also was no Danthemann5, it was Savina leading the group through the Test Vengeance campaign. We took a short break so everyone could set up their template character with skills, weapons, quickslots, and Duck could get the bot to play the Birthday Edition of the FnF Intro.

We missed Dan and Birthday Bingo, yet we still managed to have a good time. We were having so much fun we not only forgot to get screenshots, but we also almost forgot to give out presents. We zerg’ed along with the rest of the DC and made the best of the evening while enjoying being lag free, no crashing, and no stuck in combat. The evening flew by and we soon realized that we had gone past our scheduled time and that we needed to close out the Birthday Celebration for another year. Which is exactly when we remembered there was still presents to hand out. Savina made everyone stay a few more minutes for the last random roles and then we said goodnight and HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY VANQUISH!!!

Presents for FnF went out to @Arcimedes, @Dragonheart66, @NeonDruidSage, @Thimblewearer, and @thirdgirl.
