7th WBM in the books. WE DID IT!
Staring Saturday, the 31st of August at 11:00am EST, we officially kicked off the 7th Annual World Boss Marathon congregating at the Daggerfall wayshrine. With cold pizzas in the fridge, plenty of drinks; coffee, water and alcohol, and a fresh set of underwear, we knew the objective: To eliminate Tamriel’s 201 World Bosses along with their quests.
As tradition we hopped over the wall in Daggerfall, slid down the mountain to the Western Overlook and took down the Limbscather. Each year we attempt to relook at our paths and format to make the event more efficient and effective. This year we did a lot more riding collecting skyshards, wayshrines, and books on the way while taking in the scenic views of Tamriel. In times past we rebounded from wayshrine to wayshrine to eliminate as much travel as possible. Though the previous method sounds quicker, it had a lot of waiting time as players repeatedly ported to crown or their group leader. Another change was we condensed our breaks doing 3 lands instead of 2 before taking a few minutes for ourselves to refresh those drinks or visiting the holy shrine.
Throughout the day, evening, late night, and into the morning we never had less than two groups running. The WBM is a come-n-go event and open to any Vanquish family member whether you attend for just a few lands or try to make it the entire event. Our exact numbers of total participants aren’t exact, but somewhere near the 45 member mark.
Of those roughly 45, 8 members were there from start to finish,18 hours and 45 minutes later. Those with the Elite status were: (in alphabetical order)
@ast_luminious (Astoria)
@duck17 (Duck)
@savina.09 (Savina)
@shell274 (Shell)
@victus75 (Throm)
@wererabbit (Wererabbit)
@whisky_jak (Whisky)
@zannite (Zannite)
Throughout we shared plenty of laughs and conversations. We learned. We played. We now know that Shell thinks “it sounds funny” which we will just let your imagination go from there. We did. We also know that someone calls “IT” ‘the merchant’. We also learned that starting Rum at 9am with the intention of completion… doesn’t always work. LOL We had jokes, drinks, and naked Redguard dancing at the bosses. And above all, NOBODY had pineapple on their pizzas!
Our final land, as with tradition, was Vvrandenfell. The DLC where the WBM was born. And now, the land that marks the end of the event. Of the two groups we were only able to get 5 of the quests but we didn’t let that stop us. The goal was 201 world bosses. Not 200. “The Hunger” wanted to evade us. It wanted to end our long adventure on a sour note. IT was so wrong. With determination as with the very first boss, we rushed into that cave and beat it like a shitty pony. Worse. Like a dirty elf! Damn dirty elves. Objective 201 COMPLETE!
We do want to give out a few special Thank You’s to a few individuals that helped make this happen. First, to all Vanquish members that made this event run so well. With everyone sticking with crown, not having pets of any kind up, keeping with Light and Heavy attacks, exercising patience for nearly 19 hours! We made a path, a destination, but it was all of you that exercised it beautifully. So, thank you Vanquish, from us.
Second, to Shell who constantly changed groups to share the quests with the DLC’s and porting to the wayshrines that were needed. Seriously Shell, going back and forth between groups was a huge help and very much appreciated.
And to those that helped with donations; Taeve, DeSyreni, Infi, DaveDek, and Savina (and all the shopping she did with the gold donated). We gave out so many goodies during the event… geesh. But we couldn’t have done it without your help.
Thank you ALL for such a wonderful, memorable time!
