It has been an incredible year for Vanquish folks!
I want to start off by thanking each one of you, as without you there is no Vanquish. Active members, retired, new recruits and even those that have moved on from the guild, you are all greatly appreciated and have made 2016 an epic year for Vanquish!
In 2016 we saw a huge influx of members in ESO as well as both new and old members trying out other MMOs and games. 2016 was truly a good year to be a gamer. I wish there were more hours in the day! As we move forward into 2017, I look forward to seeing old friends again, making new ones and continuing to explore and enjoy this hobby together.
My personal goal in 2017 (as always) is to continue to foster an environment that we can all call home. Life can be crazy. There are ups and downs, good times and bad. What I try to offer all of you here is stability. Vanquish will be here through all the unpredictability life can throw at you. Whether you have been with us for 10+ years, are new to the guild, returning to gaming or even parted ways at some point, Vanquish is here and will continue to be here .We are in it for the long haul.
The ship sails forward, on it or off it is up to you and all are welcome aboard!
ESO
Its no secret that ESO is our primary MMO and home at this time. With an average of 150 active, unique members and growing, The Elder Scrolls Online is tied to Vanquish for the foreseeable future, and I would like to go over my plans as they pertain to ESO and Vanquish for 2017.
First off, I must say that 2016 proved one thing to me above all else: A guild based around the PLAYER behind the keyboard can indeed accomplish all a game has to offer. With people such as yourselves, people that place others before themselves… selfless, confident and driven folks, there are no limits to what we can get done in an MMO and more importantly, the fun we can offer one another. Thank you for that.
ESO: Direction
I have no need nor desire to change the overall direction the guild is going, however I do believe we are in a position to up our roster by a small percent. I will be actively seeking out new members over the next month or so in an effort to bring our active (a player that logs in at least once every 72 hours to game) members up to 180-200. While this will be the highest active roster Vanquish has ever seen, I feel we are in a good position to support such and open our doors to other like minded folks. As always, please remember you are the face of the guild. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten tells from a random player letting me know a Vanquish member helped them out, answered questions or lended a hand in some way. Keep this up Vanquish, you do me proud!
ESO: Infrastructure
With more members comes a need for more active, dedicated Officers and leadership. My general rule of thumb is a 1:10 ratio of Officers to members. In the coming months, expect to see some new (and old) names added to leadership. As always if you feel you would like such a position…actions speak louder than words, but please, feel free to contact me anytime to discuss the possibility of promotion. On a side note related to guild infrastructure, I have been asked about our ranking system a couple of times. In the past, I have used a HEAVILY structured ranking system (Ambassadors, PvP Officers, Event Coordinators, Recruitment Specialists, HR etc..), not as a way to flex our egos but as an ingame system to have a little fun, to give folks a guild oriented achievement system that is special to Vanquish. I am looking now at returning this system to service but ONLY if I feel our members would enjoy such. Stay tuned!
ESO: Content
2016 put us on the boards as raid capable and even saw us more heavily involved in PvP. In these two areas, we saw some of our members clearing Veteran Trials and/or being crowned Emperor on the battle field. In the coming year we will be tweaking HOW we run all content in ESO from the day to day to trials PvP and “for fun” type events.
A word on Trials
There will be three main types of Trials for us:
Normal Mode Trials
Normal trial runs invites are open and sign up based. Normal mode Trials are designed around getting folks together, learning what it means to run in an ESO raid, and above all else, having fun! Requirements are minimal and I invite ANYONE to host a Normal Mode Trial for the guild! Look for normal modes to be on the events calendar as well as formed up on the fly!
Veteran Mode Trials
This will be the first time since clearing 3/4 Veteran Trials that Vanquish is opening the doors to a more relaxed and flexible system. There will be open sign ups. Requirements are more important and strict in Veteran modes vs. Normal modes, so please see the Events section, select the Trial event you are interested in, and read over the requirements. ALL Veteran Mode Trials hosted by Vanquish will be posted at least one week out on the events calendar.
Progression Trials
Progression Trials will remain as closed signups, as this content requires a hand selected team to clear. This ABSOLUTELY does NOT mean that YOU can not participate in progression nights however! Simply contact your raid leaders if you are interested in joining the progression crew. Understand, however, that above all else, the progression roster is based on what we need to be successful. Requirements will be posted under the specific event on the events calendar.
PvP
We have seen a resurgence of PvP interest over the last 2 months in Vanquish, and I plan on creating a lead team based around this content. It will be this team’s job to oversee two main types of PvP outings.
Introduction and teaching events in which we group up with the understanding that fun and camaraderie are the goals. This event will have zero requirements other than you are DC and that you come with a drink in hand!
Secondly, focused events. These events will be MUCH more serious in nature. Requirements for these events will be left to my PvP leads, but I would suspect you need to know the basics of Cryodil and IC, your class, other classes, gearing and skills. Above all you will need to be able to follow direction and play as a cohesive unit.
More info will be coming soon in regards to PvP.
Day to day content
We will continue to support one another as best we can in the form of impromptu day to day content, events, crafting, having fun and gearing. Supporting the members needs on a day to day basis is where Vanquish’s strengths lie, but lately I feel I have dropped the ball in this area to a degree. I will be personally creating a system that further enables this in 2017. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me directly, I could use the help!
With housing in less than two months and DLC content coming at a regular basis, I feel ESO is moving in a great direction and 2017 promises to be full of potential for Vanquish. Remember, this is YOUR guild folks. I encourage you all to make part of it your own. If you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please ….the garbage can is over there. HAR! Doors always open folks, step on in and let’s chat, ANYTIME!
Thank you all again. I can’t tell you how humbled I am to be in place as your guild leader and appreciative that you have chosen Vanquish as your home. Here is to a great year for all!
